About / Our Story
SymServe is a software company based in Bethel Park, PA (Pittsburgh area) that develops and markets client management, evaluation/outcome, and billing software for social service and not-for-profit agencies that provide services to children and their families. Founded in 2002, SymServe builds on a software legacy that stretches back to the 1980s, when the foundation of what became R/Client for Children was first developed at Great Lakes Behavioral Research Institute. Versions of that software were distributed nationally through the 1990s and have continued to grow and evolve ever since.

The people behind SymServe
GK
Gary Kammeraad
Owner / developer
Gary founded SymServe in 2002 on a foundation he spent 17 years building. Before starting the company, he worked extensively with the software that would eventually become R/Client for Children, as well as with non-profit accounting software — giving him an unusually deep understanding of both the technology and the organizations it serves. That combination of technical depth and human service experience shapes everything about how SymServe operates. Gary is a relationship builder at heart, and the culture of partnership and trust that defines SymServe reflects his values directly.
LG
Linda Gigliotti
Senior Customer Relations
Linda has been a cornerstone of SymServe since 2009. Before joining the company, she worked in enterprise-level software training, supporting large organizations with complex enrollment and claims processing systems — experience that translates directly into the work she does with SymServe’s customers every day. Linda’s role goes well beyond typical customer support: she designs and creates custom reports, and handles data translation and transformation work that helps agencies make better use of the information they collect. She is currently taking on expanded project leadership responsibilities and is a trusted, steady presence for the agencies we serve.

Jason Goble
Senior Software Engineer
Jason joined SymServe in 2019, bringing with him broad experience building software for large organizations across multiple industries. Most recently, he worked in the mortgage lending industry, where he developed deep expertise in web-based REST interfaces and large-scale systems. Since joining the team, he has driven meaningful modernization of SymServe’s development platform — changes that are making it faster and easier to build new features, integrate with external systems, and grow the team. Jason’s work is central to SymServe’s capacity to take on new and expanding kinds of work for the agencies we serve.
Vision for the Future
Our vision has always been bigger than the software itself. What started nearly 40 years ago as an idea about how technology could serve social service agencies still lives in every line of code we write and every agency we partner with. We aren't just building software; we're honoring the connections that make service possible.
We still work with many of the same customers, and some of the same staff, we had since the initial software implementation. We take pride in that, because what we do isn't a transaction, it's a relationship. That's the same vision that's carried us this far, and it's the one still guiding where we go next.
