Authentic
assessment and program evaluation practices in early childhood intervention
emphasize the collection of real-life data on child status and progress
that links with program goals, expected outcomes, and professional
"best practices." Authentic curriculum-based methods are
especially relevant and important for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers
at developmental risk or with disabilities. This session will illustrate
such methods and metrics to accomplish program evaluation purposes
from research within Pennsylvania programs. The presenters will demonstrate
a computer database software package that links assessment programming
and progress/program evaluation purposes and activities. |

This
session highlights how field personnel use a laptop-based information
system in their routine work with children and families. The presenters

UCLID Center at the University of Pittsburgh
This session presents the process of implementing a MIS-supported
program outcomes evaluation for an early intervention system that
provides services to over 1200 children, birth through age two, and
families in an urban county. This session describes challenges and
accomplishments training 25 service coordinators to employ a computerized
battery of instruments to document strengths, needs, resources, and
priorities for service planning and outcomes monitoring. This session
will also present the results of a descriptive analysis of the information
on child and family strengths, needs, and programming outcomes.
